Ventilation slots

Ventilation slots in the lid of the filter and aeration grooves in the outflow ensure that water returned to the tank is fully oxygenated and maximize gas exchange during filtration.

Bottom-to-top flow

The pump pushes water up into the basket of the filter, entering through the bottom of the basket and being pushed out the top. A bottom-to-top flow ensures that water comes into contact will all filter media, and cannot go around or over filter media as with hang on back filters with a back-to-front flow.

Maintenance alert

Over time, filtration media can become clogged with detritus reducing or obstructing the flow of water through it. When this happens in Tidal™ filters, water is redirected around the filter and back into the aquarium through an outlet on the side. The redirected water pushes up the blue maintenance alert on the top of the filter, signaling that the filter needs to be cleaned.

Surface skimmer

The surface skimmer will capture the water from just below the surface, where excreted fish oils accumulate, as well as deeper in the tank removing floating debris

Flow regulation

The flow on the pump is adjustable using the dial on the front

No filter cartridges

The filter basket has a huge capacity to hold filtration media of your choice in the configuration of your choice. All Tidal™ Filters come with Seachem's Matrix™ bio-media to get you started.

No mess maintenance

The basket is fully removable and snaps into the lid of the filter for easy and drip-free transit to a sink or hose for cleaning.

Self-priming pump

Self-priming pump means there is no need to fill the filter basket with water, start a siphon, monitor the filter, or any of the other headaches of starting a new filter

Self-cleaning impeller

The self-cleaning, corrosion-resistant impeller is suited for both saltwater and freshwater environments. This cuts down on maintenance and makes the filter suitable for a wide range of environments.

Adjustable leveling device

A leveler on the base of the filter lets the filter adjust to a variety of aquarium styles.

3 year warranty

All Tidal™ Filters are guaranteed against defects of materials and workmanship for a period of 3 years from the date of purchase, except for the pump’s impeller. This can be extended to 5 years by registering your filter. The warranty covers the replacement of the defective parts.

Overview

PhosBond™ is a revolutionary new product that combines the phosphate removing capabilities of both aluminum oxide and granular ferric oxide into a singular material forming a synergistic effect. It rapidly removes phosphates and silicates from saltwater and freshwater, combining the best of both types of phosphate removers. Its high porosity and surface area give it a large binding capacity, while its physical strength and integrity assures that it will not break down from mechanical stress.
Comparing Seachem Phosphate Removers
Product PO4 bound
PhosGuard (Alumina Oxide) 0.87 mg/g
PhosBond (GFO and Alumina Oxide hybrid) 1.19 mg/g
PhosNet (GFO) 1.41 mg/g

Directions

For best results, PhosBond™ should be rinsed before use and placed so as to maximize the flow of water through it but not so that it tumbles against itself in flow. It may be used in a canister filter, media chamber, box filter, or any high flow area of a trickle filter. Use of a filter bag such as The Bag is recommended. Use 60 mL (1/4 cup) for every 200 L (50 US gallons) saltwater or 400 L (100 US gallons) freshwater. Leave product in place for 4 days, then test phosphate or silicate concentrations with either MultiTest™ Phosphate or MultiTest™Silicate. If the concentration of the component you are trying to decrease has not dropped to around 0.02 mg/L, then replace the PhosBond™, otherwise leave in place until levels begin to climb again. As long as concentrations remain under control, the product is not exhausted. Over treating is not recommended. PhosBond™ is not an exchange resin and does not release anything into the water. It does not leach phosphate or silicate back into the water and may be removed, dried, and returned to service until exhausted. Continuous use of small quantities is better than intermittent use of larger quantities.

Overview

The Small Zip Bag™ is a mesh bag for holding filtration media. It is available in a 32 cm x 14 cm (12.5” x 5.5”) size , easily holds 1 liter of filtration media, and it comes with a convenient corrosion-resistant zipper. It has a mesh size that is capable of holding small to intermediate and larger sized filter media including PhosGuard™, MatrixCarbon™, SeaGel™, de❊nitrate™, Renew™, Matrix™, Zeolite™. (Do not use with resins)   Sizes: 32 cm x 14 cm (12.5” x 5.5”)

Overview

Seachem Zeolite™ is a naturally occurring, highly-porous mineral that binds ammonia and heavy metals through an ion exchange mechanism. It has the highest ammonia binding capacity of any available zeolite; ten times higher than some products and twice the capacity of the closest competitor. It won’t deplete calcium in saltwater, and it won’t increase general hardness in freshwater, where the ionic strength is low.

Directions

For best results, Seachem Zeolite™ should be rinsed before use and placed so as to maximize the flow of water through it but not so that it tumbles against itself in flow. It may be used in a canister filter, media chamber, box filter, or any high flow area of a trickle filter. Use of a filter bag such as Seachem’s The Bag™ or Zip Bag™ is recommended. Use 250 mL (1 cup) of Seachem Zeolite™ for every 200 L (50 US gallons). For smaller aquariums, the equivalent dose is 5 mL (1 level teaspoon) per 4 L (1 US gallon). This amount of Seachem Zeolite™ will remove up to 0.5 mg/L ammonia. Monitor ammonia levels, which should drop to zero within 24-48 hours. At this point, the zeolite can be removed or replaced with activated carbon, such as Seachem MatrixCarbon™. For heavy metals removal, leave in service and replace monthly. For long term ammonia control, use Seachem Stability® and Matrix™. Use Ammonia Alert® or MultiTest™ Free & Total Ammonia to directly monitor levels of free ammonia.
